This exhibit complements C-SPANís American Presidents: Life Portraits, a 41-week special TV series exploring the personal life stories of the 41 men who have served as president of the United States. Throughout its 20th anniversary year, the public affairs network has gone on the road to explore the influences, interests, religious beliefs and history of Americaís leaders. American Presidents: Life Portraits focuses on one president per week and will conclude at the end of the year.

The exhibit includes photographs and prints from the White House Historical Association collection and other sources. Exhibit attendees will learn about the presidentís family life, his rise to the presidency and life after the White House.

Union Station was the first of many locations that the exhibit will visit. In conjunction with Campaign 2000, the exhibit is slated to appear at the Manchester, NH airport in January during the New Hampshire primary as well as Philadelphia, PA and Los Angeles, CA, sites of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.

About the Artist: Chas Fagan

Careers as a portraitist, landscape artist and sculptor mark the notable accomplishments of Chas Fagan. Although known to many through his exhibits and published paintings, he came to the attention of a national audience as the artist who created the bust sculpture of Alexis de Tocqueville for C-SPAN television.

Mr. Faganís commissioned oil portraits hang in private and corporate collections in the United States and Europe. Recent commissions were painted for clients in Frankfurt, Houston, Dallas, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington, DC. A portrait of President Reagan, commissioned by members of the Reagan administration and slated for permanent exhibition at the Union League Club of New York, is currently underway at Mr. Faganís studio.

Landscape paintings by Mr. Fagan have been collected extensively and published. For four consecutive years he has been commissioned to create a painting for the National Agriculture Day poster, each of which has achieved ďsold outĒ status of 30,000 prints

Among his most recent projects was a life size bronze statue of Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene that was unveiled this August at the bicentennial celebration of Greensburg, PA.

Mr. Faganís work has been exhibited at the Addison Gallery of American Art (Andover, MA), Bianco Gallery (Bucks County, PA), Somerville Manning Gallery (Greenville, DE), The Gregory Gallery (Darien, CT), and his resident gallery, Claren Court Studio (Arlington, VA), has featured solo exhibitions for five consecutive years.
