C-SPAN’s American Presidents Contest
Based on what you’ve learned from C-SPAN’s AMERICAN PRESIDENTS: LIFE PORTRAITS series, create a portrait of one of the 41 presidents using words, video, web site design, music or art.
CONTEST RULES:
- Entrants must respond to the following:
Based on what you have learned from the C-SPAN American Presidents: Life Portraits series,
create a portrait of one of the 41 presidents.
- Entries may be in any format: videotape, audiotape, website design, original art or music or in writing.
- Entrants must be residents of the U.S. or U.S. territories.
- Receipt of entries will be acknowledged only if accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope or postcard. Entrants may call C-SPAN’s Viewer Services Department at
- 626-7963 for confirmation of their entry’s receipt. Program administrators and judges
will not enter into any correspondence with entrants regarding their entries.
- All submitted materials will become the property of the National Cable Satellite Corporation dba C-SPAN. All applicants consent and personally guarantee that they have given, or have been given, permission to use any names, likenesses, pictures and project materials for
C-SPAN’s promotional purposes without additional compensation from C-SPAN. Please keep
a copy of all materials submitted.
- All entries must be accompanied by:
- a color photograph of any size of the entrant for promotional purposes;
- a 3x5 index card with the following information:
Name
Street Address
City, State, Zip Code
Area Code and telephone number
Age Category as of the deadline date: 18 and over or under 18 .
Type of entry including title and brief description. For website entries, a description of the site, the URL and sample pages must be submitted.
Name of cable system or telecommunications provider
- Entries must be received at the C-SPAN offices by close-of-business Friday, December 3, 1999.
- Winners will be determined by a C-SPAN panel of judges whose decision will be final.
- Grand prize winners must be available for travel to Washington, DC for Presidents’ Day weekend, February 19-21, 2000. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the forfeiture of the travel portion of the prize.
- Prizes may not be substituted and are non-transferable.
- Tax liabilities are the responsibility of the winners.
- Agents and employees of NCSC and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

- Trip for two to Washington DC and visits to area Presidential sites over President’s Day weekend, February 19-21, 2000 (including airfare and one double-occupancy hotel room). Winners under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- 19 inch color television.
