Planning Sheets
These Planning Sheets are designed to give teachers visiting the
Carter National Historic Site with their classes the opportunity
to select lessons which dovetail with the objectives taught at their school.
Obtain Planning Sheets for:
3rd grade
5th grade
8th grade
"Each visiting class begins their field trip by learning the history of
Plains High School and watching an orientation movie. The movie gives the
students an opportunity to listen to President and Mrs. Carter talk about
their childhood days, political career, and the years since the presidency.

Each grade level's planning sheet offers objectives which are part of the
state of Georgia objectives and relate to the Historical Site. It is hoped
that each student participating in a field trip walks away with a better
understanding of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter's life and will be inspired to
make a difference in the lives of others.

Each teacher receives a Teacher's Packet which includes basic information
about the field trips. Once a trip is requested, I call the teacher and
discuss the objectives which she wants to cover. This is very helpful and
gives me insight into the type of class and special interest of the students.
